The growing public health issue of Heroin and Opioid Abuse (HOA) has reached critical levels in Pennsylvania. Increases in the rates of heroin and opioid addiction have led to a staggering increase in deaths among teenagers and young adults in Dauphin County and the larger Pennsylvania region. Without a focused, all-out intervention, we are heading toward a disastrous epidemic.
This project is a coordinated effort designed to make learning about Heroin and Opioid Abuse easier and more direct for all drug users and families, treatment providers, information seekers, organizations, potential donors, and researchers.
Penn State Harrisburg is teaming with the Dauphin County Drug and Alcohol Services staff, its Advisory Board, and other community organizations to compile timely information and connect those seeking help with available resources.
